Test procedure
To evaluate the feed rate of a dosing system or a feeder a simple procedure is worked out. For a period of time bulk-solid material which comes out of the feeder is collected. The weight of the sample is measured and put in a ratio to the sampling time. The result is the feed rate or the throughput of unit.
When this procedure is done manually, often a test time of 36sec is applied. The accuracy of a manual sample under this conditions is in a range of 1... 3%. To improve accuracy NAMUR specifies a test time of 15min to get a variation in the range of per mill
GraviCheck works on the principle of gain-in-weight on a sample time of 110ms. This raw value is filtered online in a range of 1s ... 15min to get information as well as about the average throughput and also about the characteristic variations of the feeding process.
